Month of July

Haven't been blogging for quite some time, so I have decided to summarize July into a post on its own. Ever since I have started work on 8th, I don't have the time to frequently update this space about my life. Nothing much to rave about anyway, it's just home->work->home, with occasional meetups here & there.

1. Charlie Brown Cafe
Mum, sis & I decided to pop by this cafe before accompanying sis for her doctor appointment in town. This alfresco cafe is located just outside 313 Somerset, with a cute backdrop of Snoopy & friends. We ordered baked rice, chicken rice & crepe to share. I ordered a cup of hazelnut latte & it comes with latte art! (:

2. Despicable Me 2
So YK & I went to catch this movie at Tampines. The movie was pretty good, love Agnes the most! I wore a yellow top & blue shorts on purpose because I wanted to resemble minion! Haha.

3. Baking time!
So sis & I decided to bake something before I start work on Monday. Googled for some easy recipes & found one for nutella muffins.

4. UOB@Faber House
My summer job before school starts in September.

5. Bonding time
Dinner with mum & sis at Ice Cube Cafe @ Bedok Library after work. Happy Midweek!

6. TGIF at Saizeriya
YK was having his reservist & we finally got to meet on Friday! He came to pick me up at my office before we headed to The Cathay for our dinner. I finally got to try Saizeriya after seeing much reviews about the affordability & the escargots. Our dinner came up to a reasonable price as we ordered quite a lot to share! Even the group of guys seated next to our table couldn't resist to take another look at the amount of food on our table. Haha!

we ordered two sets of escargots baked with olive oil & garlic! (:

I ordered seafood paella

7. Sentosa with Chawanmushis
Finally it was our date at the beach! Regina & I had been wanting to chill at the beach ever since we started working. Yan joined us too :D We bought Subway, Koi & other snacks to bring to the beach for our impromptu picnic. We even brought our beach mats so that we could lie down comfortably.

my lunch!

8. Happy Sunday
YK & I visited a friend of his at SGH before heading to Astons, Bugis+ for our late lunch. Shopped around & saw the Baskin Robbins promotion. He knew that I couldn't resist it & we bought one to share - raspberry flavoured & sugar-free chocolate! What's weekend without ice cream?

9. Antoinette @ Lavender
Dinner date with lil sis after work. Brought her to try Antoinette as she hadn't been to before. We were lucky to get a table because we didn't make any reservations on a Friday night especially. The space is much larger than the outlet at Mandarin Gallery. I was having intense craving for pancakes so I ordered the most basic one to try! Sis chose a very chocolatey chocolate ice cream as dessert, if you are a fan of chocolate then you may want to try it. I still prefer their Nougatine.

10. TGIF with colleagues
I recommended Saizeriya to my team as they wanted to try it after I raved about the food. They were pleasantly surprised at the prices & quality of food. Yuhua bought a durian chocolate cake for me from Big O Cafe located at Paragon. It is yummy!

11. Archipelago Brewery
TGIF with YK at one of my favourite places after work. We shared a pizza & ordered their beer as they were having Happy Hour promotion. It felt pretty good to have a drink after work as it perked us up! I like this pub because it is alfresco & the manager is very friendly. (:

What an eventful month! I shall blog about the Phantom of The Opera another time! (:

December

With just few hours more to the last day of 2012, I thought I would just post some thoughts & pictures for the whole of December.

December was a rollercoaster ride for me, experienced a whirlpool of emotions. But I have faith.

So it was a rather busy month of meetups & bonding with friends & loved ones, despite having to cope with lessons.

Ann & Joshua's Wedding
It was my first time attending a friend's wedding dinner! It was very sweet & heartwarming to see her walking down the aisle holding her husband's hand, smiling & looking radiant. I attended it with Valerie, whom I hadn't seen for ages. Although it was rather awkward to be seated with 8 strangers, but well I must say interesting things do happen now & then.

Advanced X'mas exchange with CPF buddies
Dinner at Ichiban Boshi with the 5 of them. My partner for the Santa gift exchange was Sherilyn! We didn't know what to get for each other, before she introduced me to this satchel that looked nice (: So we ended up buying for each other - one in mint, one in purple. Sadly it didn't arrive in time for our meetup so we each bought a small gift for our meetup. Long conversations with more matured topics were refreshing for a change.

Christmas Eve (part 1)
Met up with Shu Ling, Hui Ting & Stephanie for Sushi Tei. Got a cosy booth at 2nd level of Tampines1 outlet. Gift exchange round 2 for the year (: Ordered my favourite Chashu Tonkatsu ramen. Dessert at Udders on Stephanie's treat. Supposed to be brunch but she was late so we ended up with lunch instead. Rushed home for a fresh change to get ready to go out again.

Christmas Eve (part 2)
Dinner at seemed-to-be-our-usual-hunt with YK. Same as last year. Quiet, simple & warmth. Walked to Marine Parade for a change, chilled at McCafe before heading home. Enjoyed taking bus with him. Felt like those days in SRJC again.

Good hair day. Haha

Christmas
Family bonding time! Watched Jackie Chan's last action movie - CZ12. It was awesome! Really worth the $ to watch on P.H. Dinner at Din Tai Fung, ordered our favourite dishes. Sis & I bought new pillows for parents as Christmas gifts from the Isetan sale.

Boxing Day
My dear friend is back from UK! Met up with her over brunch at Kith Cafe at Park Mall. Had so much to tell her. We went Daiso for some little shopping. After that was dessert time at Plaza Sing basement. Went Bugis for another round of shopping with Sis. Dinner at Coffee Bean with hazelnut latte as energy boost.

Hi, Edwina!

Time for Dessert
Inspired to make strawberry cheesecake after looking at those recipes online, Sis & I decided to roll up our sleeves to try. Impromptu right? It turned out nice, except the biscuit base which needed a little more melted butter. Received praises from those who ate, made me feel so happy! Shall make a tastier one next time ^^

So it's last day of 2012 tomorrow. What will you be doing?

Self-reflection Journey

Haven't been blogging about what's going on for a long time. I embarked on a self-reflection journey for two weeks & found myself more relaxed with what's going on around me.

Mother-daughter bonding session over weekday dinner at Bedok Point. Tried out the new F&B outlet selling claypot rice, noodles, mini steamboat etc. Not too bad.

Thai-style tofu, claypot chicken and sausage rice, seafood noodles

Then it was mid-autumn festival. Time for mooncakes & lanterns. Had fun playing with sparklers & bubbles.

Snowskin Pandan flavoured Mooncakes with egg yolk & melon seeds from B.Solo

Watched "The Fierce Wife" with Yan at Tiong Bahru after MSM class.

Was heading to Bugis to meet HRM peeps for Maurice's birthday celebration. I went Tampines a few days ago to buy his present - a pair of cufflinks, suitable for him when he starts working in near future! We decided on Lenas for dinner while waiting for Shu Ling & Hui Ting to come.

Smoked salmon aglio olio

Then we headed over to Ah Chew's desserts after our dinner. We shared a pint of lychee-flavoured beer earlier on during dinner upon my recommendation. Haha. It was rather funny to see how Maurice split the pint into 4 glasses for us as he doesn't want to drink.

Mango sago with pomelo. A little too sweet for me.

Went out with mum to Mount Elizabeth to accompany sis to get her knee checked. She has been complaining about it for quite some time even though she had sought help from our GP. Had lunch at F.I.S.H @ 313Somerset

can't remember the name but it is something like seafood lagsana

Saw Regina's tweet about wanting to go to the beach & I was like "yay!", finally found someone who likes to go to the beach. Haha. I like to go to the beach to chill, enjoy the breeze & waves' sounds, read a book, listen to some music, have a chat, picnic, people-watch etc. There are so many things that one can do at the beach.

We went Wavehouse today after my CF class. Was kinda excited as I have not been to the beach for quite some time. Had lunch at Wavehouse with the intention to chill at there. However, there were events going on so most parts of it were closed to public.

Smoked duck pizza

Calamari rings

We went to Palawan Beach instead as Siloso was very crowded.

iPhone4 front camera is rather blurry :(

After two weeks for self-reflection, I realized many things. Nothing ventured, nothing gain - I am brave enough to once again, embrace the friendships around me. I know that some people may be just passerbys, but some are there to stay.  (:
