Month of July

Haven't been blogging for quite some time, so I have decided to summarize July into a post on its own. Ever since I have started work on 8th, I don't have the time to frequently update this space about my life. Nothing much to rave about anyway, it's just home->work->home, with occasional meetups here & there.

1. Charlie Brown Cafe
Mum, sis & I decided to pop by this cafe before accompanying sis for her doctor appointment in town. This alfresco cafe is located just outside 313 Somerset, with a cute backdrop of Snoopy & friends. We ordered baked rice, chicken rice & crepe to share. I ordered a cup of hazelnut latte & it comes with latte art! (:

2. Despicable Me 2
So YK & I went to catch this movie at Tampines. The movie was pretty good, love Agnes the most! I wore a yellow top & blue shorts on purpose because I wanted to resemble minion! Haha.

3. Baking time!
So sis & I decided to bake something before I start work on Monday. Googled for some easy recipes & found one for nutella muffins.

4. UOB@Faber House
My summer job before school starts in September.

5. Bonding time
Dinner with mum & sis at Ice Cube Cafe @ Bedok Library after work. Happy Midweek!

6. TGIF at Saizeriya
YK was having his reservist & we finally got to meet on Friday! He came to pick me up at my office before we headed to The Cathay for our dinner. I finally got to try Saizeriya after seeing much reviews about the affordability & the escargots. Our dinner came up to a reasonable price as we ordered quite a lot to share! Even the group of guys seated next to our table couldn't resist to take another look at the amount of food on our table. Haha!

we ordered two sets of escargots baked with olive oil & garlic! (:

I ordered seafood paella

7. Sentosa with Chawanmushis
Finally it was our date at the beach! Regina & I had been wanting to chill at the beach ever since we started working. Yan joined us too :D We bought Subway, Koi & other snacks to bring to the beach for our impromptu picnic. We even brought our beach mats so that we could lie down comfortably.

my lunch!

8. Happy Sunday
YK & I visited a friend of his at SGH before heading to Astons, Bugis+ for our late lunch. Shopped around & saw the Baskin Robbins promotion. He knew that I couldn't resist it & we bought one to share - raspberry flavoured & sugar-free chocolate! What's weekend without ice cream?

9. Antoinette @ Lavender
Dinner date with lil sis after work. Brought her to try Antoinette as she hadn't been to before. We were lucky to get a table because we didn't make any reservations on a Friday night especially. The space is much larger than the outlet at Mandarin Gallery. I was having intense craving for pancakes so I ordered the most basic one to try! Sis chose a very chocolatey chocolate ice cream as dessert, if you are a fan of chocolate then you may want to try it. I still prefer their Nougatine.

10. TGIF with colleagues
I recommended Saizeriya to my team as they wanted to try it after I raved about the food. They were pleasantly surprised at the prices & quality of food. Yuhua bought a durian chocolate cake for me from Big O Cafe located at Paragon. It is yummy!

11. Archipelago Brewery
TGIF with YK at one of my favourite places after work. We shared a pizza & ordered their beer as they were having Happy Hour promotion. It felt pretty good to have a drink after work as it perked us up! I like this pub because it is alfresco & the manager is very friendly. (:

What an eventful month! I shall blog about the Phantom of The Opera another time! (:

Hua Yu Wee Restaurant

My family & relatives usually choose to have family celebrations at this Chinese restaurant, which is situated in the East. We have been patronizing this place ever since I was young.

This time round, we went there to celebrate my 大姨 & 二姨 birthdays.we ordered around 6-7 dishes because we had a table of 11 people.

this place always reminds me of my paternal & maternal grandparents

fried mantous! ((:

Special tofu with mushrooms & asparagus. I like!

Sambal kangkong; sea cucumbers

with Sis, while waiting for the food to be served

It's always packed during dinner time, especially weekends. Luckily mum called in advance to ask them to reserve a big table for us. (:

last few days of 2011

Managed to meet up with Valerie on Tuesday before the end of 2011. We two have been trying to meet up with one another after she ended her stint at CKPS. Tried Carl's Junior for the first time, sharing a chargrilled chicken burger set meal with her. Frolick 1-for-1 after that.

It's so wonderful to be able to keep in touch with her even after I left CKPS.
A great colleague, a great friend. That's what we need in the working life in order to balance things out.

X'mas present from Val

couple towels in dog-shaped from Val!

Sidetracked for awhile, Geraldine baked X'mas cookies for me! Aren't they cute? (:

Thursday was study session with YK at CCP. Found myself at Coffee Bean again. Double chocolate with breakfast set. All set to do my B/S and P&L till YK got rather upset with PBF. Dinner at Expo, steamed chicken rice set for 2 (:

Went to the gym alone on Friday after class. Sometimes I like going there alone to clear my thoughts while running on the treadmill. Though my stamina isn't very good to begin with, I thought I had improved a little ever since I started going to the gym. *beam*

Steamboat at YK house after that with 3 of his uni friends - Wilfred, Rebecca & Valerie. Warmed up to them after awhile, though it took me some time. I guessed, I am a slow warmer (: They are pretty fun to hang out with. Looking forward to hang out with them again.

As for today, I made cheese tarts while I helped a little with my sis's chocolate cookies. Meeting jc peeps later at 85 for supper & etc. Really happy that YK is joining us later (long story short). Looking forward to have some fun with them.

To be continued...

just the way you are

lunch with kailin & jiawen at ichiban sushi, PS after my dreadful stats lecture on Friday. So, I shall not go into the minute details of the meet-up. But I could definitely say that we had a blast of time talking about countless of topics. I'm so looking forward to our next meet-up! (:

pic taken with kailin's purple Samsung camera (i like!)

Left early to meet up with sis to go CNY shopping at F.E.P. Bought a pair of sandals for school & spotted some nice clothes at Bugis Street. I had a long day so it somewhat killed my shopping spirit. Ended up consoling myself that I'll make a trip down to do some serious shopping the next time.

Made my first trip to city plaza with xiang yesterday after my tuition ended. Didn't manage to buy anything because I was too picky. haha. but my mum bought me a dress today from Peniwern. good bargain & I can wear it for school. (:

This year, I've made up my mind to make an effort to dress up a little for school ^^ which spells goodbye to my $$$.

Ok, I shall reconsider it.

perfect 10?

I was reading the Sunday Times when the news reported that many couples (i forgot the number) registered their marriages today.

Suddenly I thought of the question that he asked me last week, "do you believe in getting married on these so-called special dates?" Haha. Guessed what I replied him? ;) Ok, more about this topic another time.

Anyway, this weekend was rather entertaining.

Friday night was spent with sr peeps at Sentosa for JW's birthday. Paid the entrance fee of $5 to visit the Universal Studio! (: sadly, we didn't get to watch the fireworks. But we went Wavehouse for dinner. Food was good, ambience was better, the company I had was the best!

Saturday night was Geraldine's 21st birthday celebration at Aranda. Had a good time catching up with friends while munching on the salmon. Loved the balloons! (:

Today was swimming time for my sis, yk & i. Had LJS for brunch. Fattening, I know. Will try to control my diet these days.

Now, I'm looking forward for the next weekend. Fight on!

sing with our hearts

went kbox@marina square with sis and boyfriend for singing session from 11am to 2pm. was rather shy in the first place, but towards the end, i didn't really care much about it and enjoyed myself. had K-lunch chicken rice which was rather fulling.

went for a walk around marina square and dropped by CS's diamond DeFred boutique. it was beautifully designed and renovated. saw plenty ex-srjcians who appeared to be familiar. after that, tea break at Manhattan Fish Market for garlic butter mussels served with bread and dory fish'N'chips.

i will be seeing you soon.

Mondays to Fridays :(

Had a really horrible week in school. Tons of last-minute stuff to do, things to print & etc. My meals were like bread & instant noodles on some days. I was wondering how did i manage to survive the whole day just by those. Water is my saviour indeed.

Weekends :)

Friday was a relief for me as i could have dinner with yk who managed to book out & reach Tampines by evening time. we had salad bar + main course for dinner at F.I.S.H. sadly many of their salad bar items were not ready. we played Monopoly Deal with my sister till around midnight. addictive, i guessed.

Saturday was steamboat day! woke up early to prepare the ingredients for the family dinner. yk came over for it too. it was fun having steamboat with him around (:

as for today, it was my turn to go over for his family steamboat dinner. my goodness, 2 steamboat dinners in a row. i NEED to slim down!

back to square one - Tomorrow is Monday.

a short getaway trip to Batam

I went on a short trip last Saturday to Batam for 2D1N with family, relatives & yk. Went to harbourfront early in the morning via MRT. It felt like going to work at DSO. It was a one-hour ride to batam, took some pictures, saw the IRs etc. It wasn't long before we reached our destination.

We had express clearance at the checkpoint, sounded rather good wasn't it? First stop was to see the process of making homemade kueh lapis. i didn't know it contained that much of butter in it! after that was the visit to the Polo Ralph Lauren shop. Saw a bag that looked rather pretty, but i was afraid that it wouldn't be authentic so i didn't buy it in the end.

after that we visited a temple. Lunch was at 933 Golden Prawn Restaurant. the food served were quite alright. the prawns were so so tiny! i felt so sad when i saw them being served. lol. after lunch, we made our way to a shop selling local products - crackers! (: we bought a basket full of them and lugged them back to our hotel.

now that i had mentioned about our hotel, it was a 4-star one situated in the middle of those kampungs. Golden View Hotel. basically, there wasn't any entertainment/shopping centres in the area, so we entertained ourselves by playing pool for S$4 for an hour.

as for dinner, we had ours onboard Cheng Ho ship. it resembled a chinese ship somehow. food was disappointing, though the fireworks made our day. the fireworks were so pretty! (:

the thing i liked best was the traditional massage that was done in the hotel! it was S$22 for one and half hours. i thought it was worth the money because i felt so relaxed after that. it can be quite addictive, i heard. lol.

as usual, i couldn't sleep in hotel rooms, so nevertheless, same goes for this trip. yk accompanied me until 4am when i finally took off my glasses & forced myself to sleep. apparently some comical stuff happened and i am not going to elaborate it here ;)

.....................................................................................

breakfast at the hotel on the second day was very simple fare, nothing much to say about. after that was free & easy for some of us who didn't want to go for go-carts and flying fox. we took pictures in the hotel to kill time.

it was until around 12pm when we left the hotel for Nagoya Hills Shopping Centre. we were expecting to spend a longer time over there because we didn't shop till we dropped at the shopping centre we went previously. haha.

oh oh! we bought A&W takeaway to eat onboard the ferry! :D

the return journey was tedious. i was seasick because of the choppy waters and the worst thing was the aircon in the ferry was spoilt! i was perspiring while having a headache. i wasn't the only one onboard who felt like that though.

here are some pictures taken, the rest are soon to be uploaded to FB!

hardy tadpole

after 8months of intense training, congrats to boyfriend for graduating from his course! (:
I attended his graduation ceremony & graduation dinner. wonderful! i am so proud of you for showing 200% determination during this period. the journey might be tough, but nevertheless YOU DID IT!

so graduation dinner was at NUSS, Suntec City yesterday. sis went along as jacob's partner for the night. The event was pretty alright overall, saw a few familar SR faces. surprised to find out that some of us have common friends. what a small world indeed! after the dinner, we went to clarke quay for the night view. we should do this more often, yk!
